50 Years. Together in Art: Pepi Svoronou-Demosthenis Kokkinidis:

A Presentational Retrospective | Benaki Museum Athens, Piraeus Street.

Consept

Two painters, who together form a couple and their progress in painting and in design.
A joint retrospective for two artists with different orientations and artistic temperaments, who were companions in life and in art for fifty years. Visitors will be given the opportunity to observe how their painting evolved, side by side, and to trace the points on which they came together and those where they drew apart in the discourse that developed through the duration of an entire life spent together.
A point of reference was their entirely original use of painting on textiles, which led to the creation of “Pepi’s hand-painted dresses”. A selection of these painted dresses, which were such a success throughout Europe and the USA from 1961 to 1979, will be shown for the first time, alongside painted works by the two artists.
